FAQs

  • Commercial contracts are treated as our number one priority, with multiple visits throughout weather events to ensure your business can continue to operate effectively and safely.

These contracts are maintained with our ‘curb-to-curb status,” keeping extra pushbacks and removals to a bare minimum for our clients. Safety and parking space optimization are our number one concerns for our commercial clients.

Commercial contracts are given salt bins for their entrances which will be filled and maintained by our crews and is open to access to anyone at the building.

  • We clear your driveway and walkway to your main entrance whenever it snows. We begin making our rounds when the snow has accumulated to one inch or more. Rest assured; your driveway will be cleared by your specified out time to allow you to get to work without any delays. When snow continues to fall, your first visit will be aimed only at getting you out for the day, and a follow-up visit will be made to perfect all areas later.

Our goal is for you to have the best-looking driveway in your neighbourhood. All driveways are cleared edge to edge and scraped down to the pavement. Walkways and staircases will be cleared to full width. Our priority customers pay a set monthly fee for unlimited visits throughout the month.

  • By-the-plow customers are charged per visit based on the amount of snow. Generally, prices range from $30-$80 per visit. “By-the-plow” contracts are second priority to our “Priority” snow clearing contracts, who pay a flat monthly fee. Once all priority customers are addressed, we begin visiting our “By-the-plow” customers.

The main difference with this contract is we are unable to offer a specific out time for the mornings, and visit frequency may be delayed during large snowfall events. Snow clearing will be completed within 24 hours of the snowfall.

Generally, we try to let most of the snow accumulate before clearing our by-the-plow contracts.

  • At the beginning of each season, your snow plow driver and shoveller(s) will drive the route and place markers near any potential hazards or areas of concern.

  • We take full responsibility for any damages we cause and create a spring repair list for anything needing to be addressed. If you notice any damages (turf damage, etc.), you can notify us, and we will be sure it is promptly addressed in the spring. Unfortunately, in Newfoundland, we experience many thaws, which cause the ground to become soft. Minor turf damage can be expected; however, our trained lawn care technicians will address any damage in the spring with premium grass seed and/or sod. It may even look better than it ever did following a repair.

  • For residential customers, our snow-clearing season runs from December 15th- April 15th.

Our Commercial contracts run from December 1st - April 31st. This is flexible to work with business operations and needs.

We offer out-of-season snow clearing upon request, which is priced per visit based on the amount of snow. If you require your driveway/parking lot cleared before the start or after the end of the season, be sure to let us know on your contract!

  • We start clearing snow after 1 inch (2-3cm) of snow has accumulated. Generally, our crews work from 4 am - 4 pm. For residential contracts, we typically aim to run our operations no later than 4 pm each day to ensure our crews have enough rest to start their route again early the following morning. Working hours will be adjusted for commercial contracts based on their hours of operation and needs. Depending on the timing of the snow event, we may modify our work hours to serve our customers best.

Note: Hours of operation will be adjusted to match the hours of operation of commercial contracts

  • Typically, during prolonged snowfalls, we aim to visit all of our priority customers multiple times throughout the day from 4 am-4 pm and our by-the-plow customers after the bulk of the snow has fallen. The goal for us during the snowstorm is to clear most of the snow with each visit to allow people and vehicles to come and go safely.

We aim to keep commercial contracts open and operational throughout any given snowfall.

Due to the large amount of work during snow storms, some areas of the driveway will be cleared in the days following the snow event. For example, low-priority areas such as sheds, side door entrances and oil tank access will be left until after the storm has passed. During snow storms, walkways will always be cleared wide enough to walk along safely but may not be cleared to full width. We will always return to ensure your driveways and walkway are clear edge to edge and down to black pavement.

  • Our snow-clearing service runs seven days a week., You would be treated the same as you would on a weekday.

  • Where you park your vehicles greatly impacts our crew's ability to clear your driveway. Typically, we ask our customers to park vehicles as far back in the driveway as possible. This gives our crews room to operate the plow truck at the base of the driveway. If you have a 2-car driveway, we ask that you park as close to the center of the driveway as possible; this leaves less area between cars for snow to accumulate.

It would also be a good idea to contact your driver after the first couple of visits for the season so you guys can coordinate how to make things work best for both of you for the remainder of the season.

  • We give all of our customers their snow plow drivers' phone number so they can always contact them outside of our office hours.

We encourage our customers to text our drivers, rather than call, with any questions, concerns or special requests. It’s best to give the driver as much notice as possible to allow us to accommodate any special request.

We love to hear from customers, even if it’s a simple text to say, “the city plow has come by.” This helps us provide the best service to our customers.

  • We service the east end of St. John’s primarily. If you are located East of Memorial University, more than likely, we can service your property.

  • We clear the snow using primarily pick-up trucks outfitted with snow plows. We do use a snowblower to assist our operations during large snowfalls, but we do not offer a snow-blowing service.

  • For both priority and by-the-plow contracts, you are required to sign up for the full four-month snow-clearing season. Since we receive a very high demand for our services, we cannot accommodate partial season sign-ups as it takes away from someone else who may require snow clearing for the full season.

  • Generally, we do not take on one-time plows during large snow events. We take pride in providing our contract customers with high-quality service, so we can not jeopardize this service by taking on additional work during large snowfalls. However, depending on the snowfall, we will post on our Facebook page if we are taking on any one-time-plows. Commonly we are available for one-time plows one or two days after a storm event.
